Entry Requirements For Teachers Training Colleges In Kenya

Teaching remains one of the most rewarding career choices. Being a teacher is tough, but you have the chance to make a real difference. If you want to become a teacher, you can enroll in any Teacher Training Course (TTC). There are several courses you can take to fulfill your dream of becoming a teacher.

Primary and secondary school student-teachers have every reason to smile as the entrance requirements for the Teacher Training College (TTC) have been lowered. Under the revised guidelines, students rated D+ are eligible to participate in TTC.

Under the new regulations, a student seeking a teaching diploma will require her C level or C- of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), which is lower than the previous C+. On the other hand, if you want to get an education certificate (commonly known as P1 for her), you need a D+ plan, not a C plan.

Diploma Teachers Training Colleges train professional secondary school teachers. Their enrollment takes place annually and placement of KCSE students is through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

However, not all students are placed by her KUCCPS. If you didn’t apply through KUCCPS, don’t worry, you’ll have a second chance.

Even if you weren’t placed by KUCCPS, you can still go after one of the TTCs. Simply scan your KCSE score slip or certificate and mail it to the TTC of your choice. We will review your score slip before informing you how to obtain your letter of acceptance.
