TSC Outlines Bachelor of Arts Degree & Science Teaching Courses Banned
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC), which actually advertised job vacancies, has maintained that it will not register teachers who have training in courses that are not covered by the current curriculum.
Part of the instructions for new teachers’ registration that the commission issued can be read.
Regardless of whether they have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and/or Enhancement, teacher applicants for registration whose training is in areas that are currently NOT on the curriculum are ineligible.
Additionally, PGDE graduates with certain courses in their curriculum are ineligible for TSC registration as teachers.
As per to the commission, the above courses do not provide sufficient subject content and as a result the mastery of the content in these two teaching subjects is not adequate as per to TSC requirements for teaching .
On the other hand the commission explains that those with ‘A Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree, with a post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and 2 teaching subjects are qualified for registration.
