TSC teachers retirement age limit revoked
TSC teachers retirement age. According to a Circular Ref. No. OP.CAB 2/7A, dated March 20, 2009, which reviewed the obligatory retirement age increase from 55 to 60 years old.
This directive became effective on April 1, 2009.
Another circular dated November 19th 2020 from the Public Service Commission’s circular, ref. no. PSC/ADM/13(7) explains the increase in retirement age of workers.
The Ministry in charge of Public Service has learned that most Public Officers who have reached the retirement age of 60 do request a further extension of 5 years.
RETIREMENT AGE OF TEACHERS
This is not justice to other other workers because it prevents them from Promotions.
A TSC high school principal primary headteacher should retire at the age of 60.
However recently, the Teachers Service Commission extended their retirement age to 65 years. This decision affected most of teachers who were principals in acting capacity.

According to the Public Service Commission Act 2017’s Section 80(1)(a) and (b) any public officer must retire immediately he or she reach the retirement age (60 years).
A public servant MUST retire when he or she attains;
1.60 years if there is no disability.
2. 65 years if there is Disability
Rember that no one has a mandate to increase a retirement age of any public servant.
Not even the commission appointing body can extend the age.

According to the released circular by CS Hon. Aisha Jumwa Katana, the following reviews MUST be done;
All the extension cases of retirement age that are on be stopped immediately and be withdrawn
