Wednesday, February 23, 2022 – President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s speech at Sagana State Lodge on Wednesday seems to have changed Deputy President William Ruto’s fortunes in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the August 9th presidential election.
Since 2018, Ruto has been having a cult following in the region but Uhuru’s Sagana meeting seems to have destroyed the political base of the second in command in Mt Kenya.
Uhuru’s speech was characterized by disparaging remarks aimed at his deputy, William Ruto.

He accused Ruto of refusing to cooperate with him in implementing his development projects to Kenyans.
Uhuru had a soft spot for the ODM leader, Raila Odinga, who he said their Handshake was instrumental in maintaining peace in the country.
His address was welcomed by the delegates who gave him a standing ovation after he finished his speech and began chanting “yote yawezekana bila Ruto,”
The father of the nation also appealed to his community to back Raila now, suggesting that he will have no problem supporting Ruto if reforms in the next decade or so.
